New CUNO Zeta Plus MH Series Filters for the Food & Beverage Industry
Dual-Layer Filter Design Extends Service Life and Reduces Operating Costs
Meriden, CT ---September 1, 2004 ---CUNO today announced the availability of the new MH version of its popular depth filter cartridge, Zeta Plus H series. Zeta Plus H series cartridges are used by food and beverage processors around the world in polishing, clarification, and prefiltration applications. The H series is noted for its high media tensile strength and ability to withstand the arduous process conditions found in many food & beverage plants.
Conventional cellulose-based depth filters consist of only a single layer of filter media. The Zeta Plus MH series filter cartridge employs two layers of graded-density filter media. The upstream layer consists of a more "open" porosity compared to the downstream layer. This allows the upstream layer to essentially act as prefilter, retaining larger particles, yeast, and colloids, while the tighter downstream layer removes remaining microorganisms and haze components.
This efficient use of filter media maximizes filter throughput, extending service life, and greatly reducing filter usage and operating cost. Users also realize reductions in equipment, labor, and water usage with the Maximizer H series. Furthermore, it affords the potential to collapse a two-stage filtration scheme into a single stage, again resulting in significant process savings.
Zeta Plus MH series capsules and cartridges are available in a wide range of surface areas, practical and scalable for applications from the lab-bench to full-scale production. Nine standard upstream/downstream media combinations are offered adding flexibility to filter selection.
